Leadership

Dr. Hythem Shadid

Dr. Shadid is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and is President of Genesis Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. He has been in practice since 1994 and specializes in advanced knee, hip, and shoulder conditions. He is a distinguished researcher, participating in consistent clinical studies on knee, shoulder, and hip conditions, specifically as it relates to innovative treatments for Osteoarthritis. He was also a pioneer in performing customized implants that are manufactured specifically for each patient’s individualized anatomy. He previously served as the team orthopedic physician for US National Soccer teams (both men and women’s). He is a frequent lecturer at national and international medical events, and is the past president of the DuPage County Medical Society. His goal in healthcare is simple: free patients to move freely, without pain – available to all, regardless of one’s particular insurance plan.

Andrew Shadid

Andrew Shadid is the CEO of Genesis Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, a medical group, and INC 5000 awardee, seeking to increase healthcare equity through care cost reduction. After graduating from Wheaton College with a focus on social entrepreneurship, he performed graduate work (Bridge Program) at the Dartmouth Tuck School of Business. At Genesis, Andrew and team are tackling the increasing problem of healthcare inequity, as 25% of the United States population lacks access to adequate specialty care services. Andrew has been invited to speak on this work nationally and internationally, most notably at the United Nations Headquarters, to Members of Congress, at various colleges and universities, and at numerous healthcare conferences in the United States. Andrew frequently travels to the Middle East, often leading trips of students and leaders to Israel/Palestine. Andrew is married to Maryam Bighash, is father to two sons, and is an avid soccer fan.

Ali Ahmed

Ali Ahmed has worked in drug development/clinical research for over 28 years. As President of Affinity Health, he is responsible for global oversight & business development for all research and medical services offerings, and strategic planning/overall execution of clinical research programs. Ali is also involved in various local civic engagement, various community service, and high school/college student mentoring programs in the Chicagoland community.

Principal Investigators

Dr. Hythem Shadid

is a Chicago-based orthopedic surgeon and researcher with extensive musculoskeletal clinical research experience. He previously served as the longtime orthopedic resource for the US National Soccer teams (men & women). Dr. Shadid is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and of the American Medical Association.
